Dressing like an adult every day can be hard…

Don’t know what to wear to work tomorrow?

In photography, a neutral-density filter reduces or modifies the intensity of colors.  It gives you a large degree of control over certain aspects of your picture.  If this principle is applied to your wardrobe, you have a similar amount of control over your whole wardrobe.  What are the benefits to keeping a neutral wardrobe?  Here are just 3 of many:

  1. Everything matches.  Think of the color combinations: Navy with grey, white, khaki, black – they all look good together, no matter what combination you try.  You can spend less time worrying about what matches and more time on the important things in life…like coffee.
  2. You can mix and match so much that you can wear the pieces without anyone being the wiser.  If you wear a piece of clothing that is loud or noticeable, it will need to take a break.  A neutral piece however can be remixed into your wardrobe without anyone noticing.
  3. Never look ‘boring’.  You can invest in trendier and brighter pieces like scarves and jewelry.  A simple few colorful items can brighten up a wardrobe for every season.  Pastels for spring, bright for summer an rich autumn colors warm up fall.

As a court reporter, attorney, paralegal or legal assistant, you can always be well-dressed and in style without spending tons of money on many different pieces, and more money on the important things…like coffee 😉
