Say hello to Chelsea Mikula! She is counsel at the law firm of Tucker Ellis. Chelsea practices here in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. She represents clients all over the country in the areas of commercial litigation with a focus on ESOP litigation.
Why was Ms. Mikula chosen for this year’s Litigation Institute panel? She has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, but she focuses primarily on ESOP litigation. Though early in her career, she has compiled a rather impressive amount of trial experience. Taking several cases to verdict at trial, and arbitration as co-counsel, she definitely earned her rank in the “Up and Coming” category in Chambers USA where they praised her breadth of skills and attention to detail in every phase of trial.
Most recently while on the panel of Litigators, Chelsea educated her peers on the examinations of lay witnesses. When we asked her what she loved about the Institute, she said, “I would say I enjoyed the program for several reasons: it was a nice refresher on trial skills which we as lawyers do not get to practice as much as we would like, it was great to get to work with individuals of the Bar I had not met before, and the presentation itself was a blast. I love nothing more than trying a case and getting to practice those skills is something I truly enjoy.”
We also asked Ms. Mikula an important question: To you what was the most important takeaway for attorneys?
“The witness is the star of the examination, not the attorney.”
This wise advice and so many more gems were in no short supply at the Litigation Institute. If you didn’t have a chance to attend this year, make sure not to miss this CLE next year!
